Abruzzo is a region located in south-central Italy, washed by the Adriatic Sea, facing the coast of Croatia and famous for its natural beauty, culture and gastronomic tradition.
One of the most characteristic symbols of Abruzzo are the ‘trabocchi’, wooden constructions overlooking the Adriatic Sea described by D’Annunzio as colossal spiders. Once fishing platforms, today they are a popular tourist attraction, thanks to their beauty and panoramic view of the sea. They also offer the opportunity to enjoy a lunch or dinner of fresh fish and local specialities.
The region is also famous for the Majella massif, a mountain range that offers breathtaking views and the possibility of hiking in unspoilt nature. Here you can admire the local flora and fauna, including bears, wolves, deer and golden eagles.
Another treat of the region is Atri liquorice, one of the region’s most famous sweet specialities, made from the roots of the plant of the same name. This sweet has been recognised as a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) product, which means that it is produced according to precise criteria of quality and tradition.
